Waylay is VALORANT's 28th agent, released 5 March 2025 at the start of Season 2025 Act 2, and the eighth Duelist on the roster. She is the first new space-taking duelist since launch (the lane Jett and Raze own). Her kit is light: short-range dashes, a teleport-back beacon, a slow grenade, and an ultimate that drops an afterimage plus a hindering beam.

This is a verified reference. Abilities, role, and release info come from the VALORANT Wiki. Tier-list and pick-rate opinions are left out on purpose. For live competitive data, check VLR.gg.

Background

  • Real name: Ariya Saengkaew.
  • Origin: Thailand. A radiant in VALORANT lore, meaning a player with innate radianite-derived powers.
  • VALORANT Protocol number: 28th recruit.
  • Agent class: Duelist (space-taking sub-archetype).
  • Release date: 5 March 2025 (Season 2025 Act 2).

Abilities

Saturate

Waylay instantly throws a cluster of light that explodes on contact with the ground. It hinders nearby players with a heavy movement slow and a weapon slow.

Light Speed

Up to two dashes in the direction(s) Waylay chooses. The first dash can also move upwards; the second is horizontal only.

Refract

Instantly places a beacon of light on the floor. Reactivate, and Waylay travels back to the beacon as a pure mote of light, invulnerable to all damage and abilities during the travel.

Convergent Paths (ultimate)

Waylay creates an afterimage of herself and a beam of light that expands outwards. Enemies caught in the beam are hindered; Waylay gets a speed boost.

What are Waylay's abilities?

Saturate (light cluster that hinders movement and weapon speed); Light Speed (up to two dashes, first one can move upwards); Refract (place a beacon of light, reactivate to teleport back as an invulnerable mote); Convergent Paths (ultimate that creates an afterimage of Waylay and an expanding beam of light that hinders enemies while giving her a speed boost).

Pick-rate and map win-rate data changes patch to patch. The most reliable public sources are VLR.gg's per-player and per-team stats pages plus Riot's official VCT broadcast data. Blog tier lists that don't cite a fresh data source should not be trusted as factual.
